My Summer Makeup

My friend Eunah inspired me to get my summer makeup together and snap a photo. I’m still using eyeshadow primer and Naked Pallet by Urban Decay. I swear that primer is a life saver for my shadow and liner. I usually put a vanilla color on my brow bone and stick with one color as my main lid color. (recently kitten by Stila).
Since I have mono lids (I get a crease in one eye when I get really tired or stressed), it’s difficult to figure out where to place the shadow. A good rule (for me): from lash line to the top of where your eyeball is. Then blend so there isn’t a harsh line.
I normally don’t wear eyeliner but my BFF gave me an eyeliner and I tried it out today and I love it! Since it’s a smudge eyeliner, it has a tendency to smear. I set the eyeliner with a black eyeshadow and that usually does the trick. Amazing what a difference eyeliner makes, I’ve been missing out since I stopped wearing liner! I stopped using liner (in purple usually) around the new year and now I think I have to start wearing it again!
I usually curl my lashes, use mascara primer only when I’m going somewhere special and then my favorite DiorShow mascara. I swear I had non-existent lashes that were thin and DiorShow makes my lashes look thick and so much volume. I can’t say it’s THE mascara to get because my BFF doesn’t like it. But for me, it is my favorite!
I use a little bronzer under my cheekbones and over my forehead for a little color. I’m so pale… so I want to look a little sun kissed.
I’m absolutely in love with those Revlon Lip Butters! I have a variety of colors but lately I have been wearing bright pinks. They make me feel summery and happy.
What is your summer makeup routine?
I don’t wear makeup everyday… maybe three or four times a week. Mostly because it’s a lot of effort and it takes too much time. (ha, I complain about 10 minutes) The days I don’t wear makeup, I just use some bronzer and mascara.
My routine hasn’t changed much since December, looks like I swapped a few things though!
It’s interesting to hear about your routine!! I used to wear all sorts of crazy eyeshadow colors and have gotten away from it in the past few years. Sometimes I wish I’d go back to it, but it’s so much faster to go with neutrals because there’s no debate. I usually go through phases. Right now I’m using a shimmery cream and bronze on my eyes. A month ago it was gold and pink.
I have to say that crazy colors are SO FUN! But you’re right, neutrals are faster and easier… which is why most of my shadows are that range. Though, the winter time I love wearing dark purples with some liner. Your current routine sounds like mine! Gold and pink sound beautiful, I’ll have to give that a try especially since it would be perfect for summer.
so glad the eyeliner works well for you! it’s always a thrill when you find that one thing that looks really good, when you weren’t really expecting it. hopefully i’ll experience that kind of breakthrough with eyeshadow…but the search continues for me.
i saw that there’s a naked 2 palette that urban decay released….wonder if that will be a better fit for me???
Yes, it was an unexpected surprise! Though, setting it with powder takes some time so it’s definitely not an everyday thing for me. But I love the shadows too. They’re really buttery and glide on well. I actually saw the naked 2 and I wanted it but I’m not even halfway through my naked 1 and now I have the Stila thanks to you!
I don’t even think you need eyeshadow, your makeup if flawless!
yay, i inspired you! haha my makeup routine is supposedly longer than i thought. i just switched to the chanel tinted moisturizer and eyeliner and i’m set! no lipgloss or anything!
