The whole Hong Kong group of friends left last Sunday and before they flew back…. we ate.

Surprised? Nah, I didn’t think so.

Jesse Restaurant is a favorite amongst the Cantonese community. Every time we go, we hear Cantonese! It serves Shanghainese cuisine and I suggest going here if you have a group. It’s a tiny place and a reservation is usually required. It’s always, always busy and there have been times we couldn’t go because of it was packed and we didn’t have reservations.

The eight of us went and we tried so many things. My personal favorite is the baked fish in scallions and the hairy crab tofu. The fish is sweet and has a nice glaze on it and hairy crab soft tofu is super popular in Shanghai. 

Oh my goodness. Let me tell you that I am an absolute sucker for good quality chocolate. We had a bit more time to kill so we took our friends to House of Flour (Sinan Lu Boutique). HoF is an amazing chocolate bar and might I suggest you only get chocolate? We tried out the cheesecake and I was less than impressed. 

HoF is my favorite place to get chocolates: for myself and for friends. The quality is exceptional and the service is excellent. My favorite was the “Death by Chocolate Cake”, rich and dense… chocolate lovers, you will lust over this. I didn’t share mine and neither did anyone else.

The drinks are heavenly, you really can’t go wrong with them. And since the drinks took a little time… the owner came out and gave the ladies some truffles. *cue angels singing* 

I love their mugs that say in both Chinese and English:

“If I must die, let it be Death by Chocolate.” 

I think I might go back again this weekend…. you know, to try the other cakes.
