Boram at 20 Weeks

onesies

Before I get into our 20 weeks with Boram, I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to those that were so generous with their gifts for him. I was sorting through all the onesies, clothes, socks, coats, shoes and these were all the new born ones. I have to say, wow… we are so lucky! We got some wonderful hand me downs from Jess (NCMC) and our cousin Suzanne! We also received tons of onesies from so many friends (in various sizes, NB-1 year!). I’m starting to organize things into age groups and then maybe a month before I’m due, I’ll do the laundry for NB-3 months.

I do think I need to purchase some footed onesies, I think those are nice since they are covered from head to toe. Now I just have to figure out how to say that in Chinese (ahem, write it, I mean) so that I can use the “ebay of China”, taobao to purchase baby products.  So if any of you know how to write any terms for babies (ie: onesies, rompers, etc…), please leave them in the comments! (or email, YAY my email works now!)boram20Onto our 20 week ultrasound! This ultrasound was called a Level Two Ultrasound. They had a specialist come in to do the ultrasound to check for down syndrome, clef chin, the organs and overall development and health. Thank goodness Boram is healthy and thriving.

They first took my blood pressure, which was EXTREMELY HIGH… because I saw my favorite nurse (Vera), who I haven’t seen in MONTHS. She literally made my heart beat faster and we both cracked up. She told me to calm down for 2 minutes and retook my blood pressure and it was normal. LOL

She then took my weight and my total weight gain since pregnancy is now 2.7 kg (6.1 lbs). Nurse Vera then lead us into the ultrasound room where the specialist was waiting for me. Later my wonderful Dr Kong came in and we tried to get a look at Boram.

He would NOT cooperate! It actually made us laugh so much, he kept turning around so we couldn’t see him or he would place his arms/hands in front of his face. They poked my belly but he wouldn’t have any of it! So Dr Kong recommended that I go walk around, drink some hot chocolate (I ended up having two cups) and about an hour later, Boram finally let us see his face.

The hubs and I were in complete amazement. Boram is looking like a REAL PERSON. He has distinct features and I can’t believe it. I keep looking at the ultrasound pictures even now, my baby! The hubs and I immediately noticed that his ears are huge (totally like the hubs), his nose even looks a little like the hubs. I’m pretty sure we have a mini-hubby, oh… he’s going to be SO CUTE!

Afterwards we talked to my in laws via Facetime. (How I love technology) And they are so happy, my MIL… I swear, almost every time I show her ultrasound pics, she cries (or almost cries). They smile so big and they constantly tell me to keep being positive and to eat healthy. They are so excited to meet him!

I also love the fact that the BFF and her mom are so involved with my pregnancy too. BFF agreed that Boram looks like the hubs and she’s so excited that she has a little nephew! The BFF’s mom is SO CUTE, she writes me (in Korean) a lot and always comments about how she wishes the best for me. She also tells me to eat healthy, that she prays for me and the baby. It’s SO NICE. I love hearing that people are just as excited as we are for his arrival.

It’s been a few days since our appointment and I stare at the pictures all the time. I shed a tear yesterday looking at our son’s picture.

wow, you are MY son… I love you so much already.”

I still can’t believe a life is growing inside of me, he is my hope and makes my heart weak already. I can’t wait for us to meet him, our little baby…

I really hope that I am a good mother to him. I know I’m going to do everything in my power to be the best mother I can be. <3

Thanks Carla! It would be fun to go through pregnancy at the same time. :) I’m fortunate enough to have a dear friend who is due the exact same date. :)

This is wonderful, and you’re halfway there to meeting your son! I don’t know the Chinese words for what you’re looking for, perhaps your Chinese teacher could help?

Awww thank you!! Haha, my Chinese teacher is VERY young and I don’t even think she knows those English words. I’ll ask her in my next lesson to give it a try. :)

Oh Eugenie, you are so sweet. Thank you for your kind words and I’m glad that we could share this precious time in our life with you. I do know Aeri, and loved seeing her go through her 1st and 2nd sons. :) She is such a source of positive energy, much like you. :) Hopefully one day when we go back to Korea, you can meet our son! :)

Hi Annie, I came across your blog while googling for eats
in Shanghai. You could try searching taobao using “连身衣/爬服/哈衣” for
    the footed baby onesies. :)
