Hong Kong, I love you (Breakfast)
I just love Hong Kong, so very much. I never knew that I did until I started dating my husband many years ago… I love the food, I love the city and my goodness do I love your people.
We went to Hong Kong last week for a mini vacation/see friends/fill up on food/shopping and oh… I don’t know what else. But it was amazing, refreshing and just what this pregnant lady needed!

One of my favorite places (ever) for breakfast is a local diner in Wanchai that my FIL introduced me to. My FIL took us there during my first trip to Hong Kong and it was absolutely amazing! I love the noodle soups, side of eggs, buttered bun and of course who can forget the milk tea?!
So every single time we go to HK, that’s my first stop. It’s called Honolulu Coffee Shop, located off the Wan Chai subway stop. The menus are in Chinese but I’m sure you can take a look around at what people are eating and point.
I love their egg tarts (dan-ta) and I swear, it’s the best I’ve ever had. The custard part is the right consistency for me, it’s creamy and eating it warm is best!
We also got the breakfast set which got us soup noodles, eggs (any style you want – scrambled for this preggo) and I ended up getting a lai-cha (milk tea), hubs got an in-yeurn (milk tea/coffee). I was in HEAVEN, so happy! Although we didn’t plan on hotel being on the same street, it kind of worked out for us.
They also have another location on Stanley street so look it up before you go!

Some other YUMS I ate on the trip and very typical Cantonese breakfast: French Toast. I don’t even like french toast but I love HK french toast. Don’t mind the fried goodness, it totally hit the spot for me as a snack!

We went to so many random diners for breakfast that I didn’t even write down the addresses. Honestly, they are all good! The big guys like Tsui-Wah or little hole in the walls are just as amazing. The above picture was our last day and we had breakfast with my BIL. One of the highlights of our trip there was being able to see him as much as we did. There’s seriously nothing like family and I hope the next time he’s there, he’ll bring his family with.

I can’t believe I dedicated a whole entry just to breakfast in HK. But seriously, come on… doesn’t this look delicious? Are you drooling? (I am…) I must have drunk at least 3 lai cha/lemon tea/and whatever else a day in HK. I miss it, it’s just not the same in Shanghai. (though, not bad… just not the same)
I ate so much there and I can’t wait till we take Boram there one day to experience the food and culture. He’s going to love where his daddy’s side is from!
I’m hungry now… lol <3

oh my, that looks so good, I love HK style meals, it’s like yummy yummy comfort food. i was born and raised in hawaii, and like the name of the shop
though I wonder why it’s called Honolulu Coffee Shop, as the meals don’t resemble “hawaii style” food. maybe the owners were from hawaii?
I just had dinner. Came up to my room. Looked at your blog. And now I’m hungry again.
