A day in my life and Good bye!
Just sharing what happened today, this is a pretty typical day.
Ollie wakes up anywhere from 6-7:30am
-Chang diaper (most likely a giant poopy diaper! If so, I wash his bum in the tub)
-put him on his playmat with music playing. I eat breakfast, get ready, change etc.
-put him in the ergo or stroller depending on what errands I need to do. (A lot of places don’t have elevators so I’m forces to carry him in the ergo)
-He naps while I do errands
-come home, put things away while he still sleeps
-I put him in the stroller and have him watch me prep dinner. I talk to him about what I’m doing, colors and teach him names of things. He usually babbles back and laughs a lot.
-play games (piggies, how big?, where’s your…)
-He’s usually tired, I nurse him a little and he sleeps. I try and nap or most likely posting pics to Instagram and chatting with friends.
-read him an array of books that we were gifted (he loves it!)
-sing him songs and play ukulele (he’s usually singing along haha)
-turn off AC (so its nice and toasty)
-if he looks hungry, I give him a snack)
-5:30/45 I give him a nice relaxing bath. Usually filled with songs, talking to him and making him laugh.
-pat dry him in a nice towel
-clean his ears, diaper cream plus diaper. Cover him with the towel.
-place him on the bed while wrapped in the towel. Give him some snuggles and kisses.
-I lie down next to him and read him “The going to bed book” for 15 mins or so. (Prob around 10Xs reading)
-while singing “twinkle twinkle”, I change him into footed onesies. He usually smiles and coos. I give him a million kisses and tell him I love him.
-turn on AC
-lie down next to him and hold his hand while snuggling. Read the same book for another 15 mins. We laugh and smile!
-Turn on all my white noise machines
-turn on my turtle light that shines stars on the ceiling
-kiss Oliver good night and say I love you
-turn off lights
-nurse him to sleep.
I usually fall asleep until the hubs comes home from work and then we eat. I immediately go back to sleep after dinner. Haha
It’s usually really difficult to meet with friends because I don’t have a set time with him. And it’s really hard to take care of him while our, unless its quick errands when I know it’s probably a nap. It’s impossible to plan in advance so it’s not easy.
Oh and I forgot to mention!
We’re moving to Hong Kong!!!!!!!! Yep, the first week of October! So I’m doing a lot of arranging and figuring out what to take and what to leave in between taking care of Ollie.
And while I enjoyed Shanghai, I’m ready to leave. It’s really not a baby friendly place. Steps everywhere, no elevators or changing stations. People always touching my baby, pushing me even though they see I’m holding Ollie.
I’m SO over Shanghai. I nearly got knocked over on the subway when exiting, three grown men pushed me as they were trying to get in and I almost fell and had Ollie in the carrier.
I also took a can in hopes it would be better. I had bags from my errands and Ollie was fussing because the driver refused to turn on the AC. It was 98F(+) that day. The driver screamed at me the entire time. When we got to my home, I asked him to open the door for me because its hard with a screaming baby and a bunch of bags. He said he doesn’t want to get up an open the door. (Sigh)
While this doesn’t happen all the time, it happens enough that I can’t go out on my own. Shanghai was great when it was just the hubs and I but no thank you, I’m ready to leave!
We have a million friends in HK and its a better place for families. And ENGLISH, have I mentioned that? It’s more westernized so I’m thrilled to go! Plus the hubs is from HK so Ollie will experience everything about his dad’s side, culture wise.
So yeah, my typical day and good bye shanghai!
