Dubai: Burj Khalifa

20140327-102747.jpg
The very first morning we were in Dubai, we went to the very top of the Burj Khalifa…. At 5:30am!

We wanted to watch the sunrise and figured that in Hong Kong time, it wasn’t too bad. It’s the tallest building in the world and sure felt like it!

The elevator up was super fast, at 2,722 feet, we were at the top in a minute?! Crazy. The sunrise was nice and we enjoyed it. I thought the viewing platform would be bigger, going all the way around but it’s quite small. Plus the professional photographers hogged the best viewing point for the entire sunrise. I didn’t think that was fair for them to be there for hours in one spot, hopefully the Management can do something about that next time. (We all paid the same amount)

Did Ollie enjoy it? He probably didn’t even realize we are that high up. Lol But we took tons of pictures and even have some goofy green screen ones. I am really glad we got to go, especially while the city was really quiet. :)

Traveling wasn’t too bad with Ollie. It really helps that the husband takes charge with nearly everything. It was so nice to have a vacation with the family, somewhere different.

To prepare, we packed Ollie’s bag with: diapers, wipes, small toys, snacks, extra clothes and water. (Just incase he fusses or poops through).

Also keep in mind, you can’t take the stroller up to the top, but you can check it. So make sure you bring a carrier like the ergo! Otherwise your arms will get very tired.

Was it worth it? Totally. I imagine the night time views are pretty amazing too, with the beautiful Dubai Fountains show going on at night.

Make sure you buy your tickets ahead of time because it sells out really quick! Here is their official website.

Oh wow. The pictures you’ve shared when in Dubai are fantastic. I loved especially all your family photos together. Ollie won’t remember it when he’s older but you can always show him all the pictures and say, “Honey, this was when we were in Dubai. You were asleep when we went to etc etc…” XD
