Hello everyone! 大家好！

My name is Annie (Liu 刘）and you have landed on my blog. My blog name “anniegurumi” is a play on words. Amigurumi is the art of doll making by using crochet. And that is me….anniegurumi…. Annie making amigurumi!

My husband and I moved from New York City to Shanghai in late October 2011. He is Chinese (Hong Kong) and I am Korean American. He’s not only my husband but my best friend. He’s the kindest person I know and he loves with his whole heart. He’s so special, I love him to pieces. He speaks Cantonese and Mandarin fluently. I am currently taking Mandarin lessons, which has been so much fun!

I have my doctorate in piano performance and was in a rock band in NYC. We had a great time and was on MTV and VH1! It was an exciting experience and I miss my performance days at times.

I am currently a song writer and a crafter.

My BFF is Hee-Jin or HJ. She has been my closest friend for as long as I can remember. I refer to her a lot and she is very much my strength. She is one of the most generous and understanding friend. She has been there for me through the thick and thin, she’s been there when nobody else was left and I am very blessed to have her not only as my bff but my sister. I love you HJ!!! She also has a beautiful daughter named Zoe (I already love her), who I consider my niece. You’ll probably be hearing a lot about her too.

I am blessed in having wonderful in laws. Both my Father and Mother in Law are incredible. I consider them my parents and not in laws. They have shown me what great parents are and have shown me much love.

My Sister in Law and Brother in Law are awesome. They are wonderful and caring. I love them so much. Isn’t this blog design so cute? My SIL made it especially for me. She is definitely one of my closest friends and sister. They have two daughters (Claire & Aerin) who I love endlessly.

I refer to a group of friends called NCMC a lot. They are my closest group of friends in NYC and they have been my family as long as I can remember. Moving away was hard because I didn’t want to leave such outstanding friends.

I usually blog from my iPhone, which has a terrible tendency to autocorrect. It’s not exactly the easiest to type on my phone so you’ll probably see a lot of errors but eh… it’s a blog.
